Charlie Saginaw began his fascination with renewable solar energy as a child, when his parents taught him to not waste electricity. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin Charlie joined CivicSolar with the mission of accelerating the adoption of solar. Charlie publishes monthly articles about the new technology for CivicSolar's blog The Technical Advisor. He is currently working towards earning his NABCEP certification. Charlie's focus is to help small solar business thrive.
Favorite solar experience:
Charlie's favorite solar experience was volunteering with CivicSolar and Grid Alternatives in 2016 for a low-income family in northern California. He enjoyed everything from wiring a J-box to laying down panels on the roof-mounted 5 kW residential system. Most satisfying was hearing how the family planned to budget their energy savings towards their youngest daughter's college education.
New tech I'm excited about:
Charlie is excited to see advances in solar monitoring and the rise of solar + lithium-ion based storage.
