Twende Solar organized the installation of a 60 kW grid-tied solar array in Dignity Village, a tiny home community serving Portland, OR, residents experiencing homelessness. Greentech Renewables locations in Portland, OR, and Auburn, MA, supported the project with donations of solar panels, inverters, racking material, and more. In addition, 10 Greentech Renewables employees supported the cause by volunteering at the installation site.

Twende Solar is a non-profit organization committed to supporting under-resourced communities with renewable energy systems to empower energy independence. Its mission is to accelerate the global transition to clean and affordable energy solutions, ensuring no community is left behind.

Twende Solar recently organized the installation of a 60 kW system for the residents of Dignity Village, a self-governed tiny home community serving 60 Portland residents experiencing homelessness. The project's goal was to improve the resident's living conditions and safety by providing access to electricity and replacing reliance on propane lights and heaters.

In partnership with a team of electricians, solar installers, dedicated volunteers, and Dignity Village residents, Twende Solar wired 43 homes and the Commons Building with electricity and interconnected the system to the grid. The volunteer team installed 200 solar modules across the community's rooftops, providing a reliable and sustainable energy source that will offset the anticipated increase in electricity usage from additional electrical loads.

Greentech Renewables Portland provided donations of solar panels and racking products, along with sending 10 employees to volunteer on the job site. Product donations included Unirac SolarMount Rails, IronRidge L-foot attachments, and Enphase IQ7+ microinverters. When certain products were unavailable on the West Coast, Greentech Renewables Auburn donated some necessary materials to support this project.

Over 800 hours, 80 volunteers teamed up with 20 villagers to build this 60 kW solar system. As a result, every resident in Dignity Village now has access to electricity for lighting, charging, cooling, heating, and smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
