Sealed lead-acid batteries remain the most widely used (sealed) rechargeable battery in the world. Because water is not lost during the discharging and recharging processes, SLA batteries require virtually no maintenance and can be used in almost any position.

- SLAs are the least expensive rechargeable battery. This makes them best suited for applications such applications as electric wheelchairs and golf carts.
