Gel batteries are types of sealed batteries. The electrolyte is gelified by addition of silica gel that turns the liquid into a gelled mass. Gel batteries reduce the electrolyte evaporation, spillage and they have great resistance to extreme temperatures, vibration and shock. It is important to note that almost all sealed batteries must be charged at lower currents with compatible charge controllers. They are suitable for RV and boat applications as they are non-spillable.
